Beckett Basketball Card Hall of Fame - Class of 2005

I was scanning through some of my old Beckett magazines today when this one has caught my attention.

If there's a Hall of Fame for basketball players, coaches and teams, there's also a Hall of Fame for basketball trading cards.

A total of 10 cards made the inaugural Beckett Basketball Card Hall of Fame.

Kobe Bryant 00-01 SPx Winning Materials Jersey/Warmup Autograph

After six months, I was finally able to snag my second Kobe Bryant auto.

When Kobe got his 5th championship ring last season, I decided to collect his cards.

The first card I got was 2004-05 UD All-Star Lineup Signature Class Kobe Bryant auto which was sold to me by a fellow member at NBA Cards Philippines forum.

The itch to open basketball boxes is becoming unbearable again  so I decided to buy unopened basketball boxes from Dave and Adam's Card World last November 3. The package arrived two weeks later on November 19.

Shaquille O'Neal 96-97 Finest Rainbow Set

I finally got the REFRACTOR version of the 96-97 Finest #147 GOLD Shaquille O'Neal card.

Thus, my Shaq 96-97 Finest rainbow set is now complete.

Mail Day October 4: Lot of Shaq Game-Used Cards

I claimed yesterday a package at the post-office which I have been waiting for a month now.

It's a lot of Shaquille O'Neal game-used cards I bought off eBay.

Coming home from a week of field work yesterday, a huge stack of package was waiting for me.

Trading Cards With Shaq Cameo Appearance

This one's just for fun.

I have almost one thousand different Shaquille O'Neal trading cards. I know it's impossible to collect all of his cards due to multiple 1/1s but whenever I have the chance to get hold of a new Shaq, I grab it immediately.

Shaquille O'Neal 1995 Classic Five Sport Hot Box Autographs 655/655!

This one has caught my fancy while casually browsing at auctions in eBay.

The reason? This card is hand numbered to 655/655!

Yes, the last card in the set. 

Mail Day September 15: Shaq Last Numbered Auto, Roy Epic Signature, etc.

I got three packages waiting for me at home today.

One came from eBay and the two from online trading sites: sportscardforum and ozcardtrader.

Josh Smith 05-06 Finest Rainbow Set

I love shiny cards.

I also love sets.

So when a collector from the NBA Cards Philippines forum decided to sell his Josh Smith set of refractors, x-fractors and a 1 of 1 superfractor from the 05-06 Finest product, I grabbed the opportunity to own them.

The Evolution of Lebron James' New Signature

Over the years, Lebron James' signature has evolved. Along with the improvement of every facet of his game every year, his signature improved too.

I can say that his rookie-year autographs look like a kid's scribble.

After "The Decision" to play with the Miami Heat starting next season, Lebron decided to switch to a new number... and a new signature.

Four Basketball Boxes From Dave and Adam's Card World

Last December 2009, I bought six unopened basketball boxes at Dave and Adam's Card World through their website.

It was my first time to buy from them and I was shocked when a UPS agent emailed me that I have to pay customs tax in the amount of around $110 before they will deliver the package to me.

After that incident, I vowed never to buy boxes from them anymore.

Old School Box Breaks 97-98 Ultra and 97-98 Skybox Premium

When I was younger and still a student, I just buy packs from the early to mid 90's products since I can't afford to buy boxes.

Now that I'm older and can afford to buy, I have bought boxes from current products but not from those old ones.

My Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Buyback Redemption Cards

The 2009-10 Exquisite Collection was Upper Deck's last Exquisite release (for now at least) after Panini was able to grab hold of the NBA sports cards licensing monopoly.

In the product, Upper Deck bought back old Exquisite cards from the previous releases and have them signed by various players.

Redemption cards were then issued for these buybacks.

Photobucket has been of great help to us collectors.

With its ease of use and beautiful interface, we can upload pictures and scans of our trading cards.

In this world where face to face trading is a thing of the past and online trading  is the norm, photobucket albums serve as virtual binders of our collection for others to see and browse.

In the tradition of "Hello World", this is my customary first post in this web site.

As an avid fan of the NBA, I have been collecting basketball trading cards since 1996.
